Do you ever just feel like a real big f***-up?
Like you've made so many mistakes in a short period of time that there's no way you can deny that you've been stupid, idiotic, blind?
Well, that was my week.
Letting everything bother me was the start. Things that I shouldn't care about. Things that I cared way too much about. These things ruined my week to begin with. Just layer after layer of ill feelings and sadness.
Then there's the pushing away of the wrong people. Everyone has people that are there to help you, and make you feel better. So in the week that I felt hopeless and depressed, I neglected to let them help me. My own shadowed emotions helped me push them away despite them being there to help me think things through.
Next, being stubborn. I'm a taurus, we're stubborn. But that's no excuse for how I acted. Sometimes you (really I) need to disregard my stubborn resistance and listen to other people. Because 8 out of 10 times, they're right. They can open your eyes to the truths you've been blocking out (referring back to the aforementioned blindness).
So, upset emotions, emotional detachment, and stubborness all lead to the cherry on top of this stupidity sundae. I blamed all the wrong people for how I was feeling. When I tried to swirl back into my shell of antisociallity, they tried to pull me back out, give me a pep talk and some advice, and I shunned them away. Dumb. Didn't I tell you? Just....really dumb of me.
Oh, and let's not forget to mention my BRILLIANT f***ing idea of trying to walk to the kitchen while my foot was asleep. Yep, twisted something, plates dropped to the floor (along with me), a loud crack and now I'm left with a painful foot icing and elevated the night before prom. Like I said, brilliant huh?
Well, now that I've filled a page with my stupid decisions of this week, I hope anyone who reads this thinks before letting their emotions affect how they treat the ones who are truly there to help you out. They want you to take their hand when they present it in front of you, so don't be idiotic like me and lose that one offer of help. Also, if you have something important tomorrow, it'd be best if you didn't try to walk to the kitchen while your foot is asleep.

Sherlock
Haven't posted in quite sometime, but these type of things sort of come in bursts of inspirations to me. Anyways, this one was inspired by a random decision to check out the show "Sherlock". I've heard a bit about it from friends but hadn't taken the time to attempt to watch it. And I love Sherlock Holmes (books, movies, shows, etc). So, whilst browsing netflix, and finding that "Midnight in Paris" wasn't available to watch online, I saw "Sherlock" in the suggestions, and decided to give it a shot (why not, I didn't have homework tonight).
My initial response to the show, so far, is a bit ambiguous. The modernization definitely takes some getting used to. And at times I feel like it's trying too hard to be recreated as a modern representation of the famous duo. However, at the moments when I'm 'eh' and 'if-y' about the show, there is some type of amazing representation of the characters that I really see only when their scenes are together. Holmes and Watson are both very complex characters, and I think alone, these actors have some work ahead of them before fitting into the historic shoes of the infamous detective team. But, in the scenes that rely solely on their interaction between each other, I feel the shots and characteristics are executed quite well. I first felt this in the scene where they meet. Sherlock displays his famous ability of deduction before the mysterious gentlemen gets to fully introduce himself. And Watson, being the type of person that not only looks forward to something new, but doesn't shy away from the unknown inquires Sherlock's abilities, but ultimately trusts him.
Then there is the scene where Sherlock discovers Watson is a doctor, and there is a fast exchanging of dialogue between the two about the terrors that Watson must have faced in the war. And at the end of the conversation it is quickly revealed from both of them that Watson is in need of that same type of adventure.
It is these little moments that really pull out the traditional, and transcending traits of these two characters that is enabling me to continue to give this show a chance. Hopefully the jump into modernization will grow on me eventually, because at this point it is a bit more distracting than beneficial to the show's overall execution.

white vans
So, I was just thinking about how my parents would always warn me about white vans. They warned about kidnappers and such. And now I still act more cautious as a white van drives by. The thing is, its not always white vans that are used in kidnapping, and I feel like one person must have given white vans a bad name. Now they have become a cliche in a slashes film. Add a babysitter, and creepy phone calls and you've got yourself a blockbuster. In my opinion it seems unfair to white vans, a car made for convenience has been turned into a childhood nursery rhyme lesson of sorts.

Celtic Calling
I am quarter Irish, and don't think much about ethnicity often. I like to be surrounded by lots of different cultures. However, I have these sudden moods for music that only Celtic music can quench. I feel like it's a calling, hence the title of this post.
I love all types of music, and can easily listen to rock, classical, jazz, etc. But there are days that some traditional harps and flutes just sound perfect. It creates such a magical sound. Literally, it's as if I was transported to some faraway land of fairies and runes. It's also a very nostalgic feeling. I used to Irish step dance, and listening to Celtic music reminds me so much of the steps and the stages. What I've discovered is that Irish step dancing (and probably all types of dance) is that it's like riding a bike. You never really forget. You might not know all the moves the rest of your life, but you will always have that emotion to want to get up and click your heels and dance when the music that reminds you of it begins to play.
Music is just so powerful. It's like a pebble in a pound, the ripples that form are all the different emotions that music can effect in a person. And for me Celtic music acts as a catalyst for my emotions of peace, nostalgia, happiness, and a sense of dance (which could just possibly be considered an emotion of sorts).
Thanks for reading. :)

Just Passing By
One thing I think about a lot is the people we pass by in life. You know, the ones you're stuck in traffic next to, the people you share the sidewalk with, or the woman or man beside you in line at Starbucks. It's strange to think about how you are sharing that moment in life with them, and sometimes heading towards the same thing, or in line for similar reasons, but you will probably never get to know them, or even see them again. Well, you might be in the same area as them at another time, but recognition would be futile. It makes me wonder if we are all missing out by not greeting and chatting with the "randoms" in our lives. Or maybe it's better this way, minding your own business.
Seems like the only time a stranger breaks the barrier built upon their personal life is when they are attracted to someone. I wonder if the conversation would be more awkward if you just said hello, rather than a pick up line (and in some cases, compliments or casual talk about the weather are used). However, anyone enjoys hearing that someone thinks they are attractive, whereas a conversation in the style of "friends" talking may raise suspicion in someone. "Why is this person talking to me? Are they about to try to sell me something? Etc. Etc." It seems like people enjoy keeping their personal lives just that, personal. I know that I do.
Then again, if someone were to engage in a conversation with me, and we hadn't met before, I know that that would quite be an interesting experience. You would learn about someone else, the world, and probably even yourself.
So, the next time that line you are standing in looks as if it's going to last for days, say hello to your neighbors, and enjoy the step you've taken out of the ordinary.

Internet Remedy?
Wasn't planning on writing another post tonight, but I have a splitting headache. Usually it's nice to listen to music and wait until the aching stops, but I decided to see if writing this would help. With my bottle of water next to me, and a blank surface to scribble on, I am hoping my brain will be distracted enough to forget about it's current state.
It's interesting personifying the mind in this text, it doesn't seem too out of place. To me it feels like the mind could be it's own person. Am I really personifying my mind, or is my mind personifying me? Without it, I would be thoughtless, motionless, vacant. It gives me the characteristics that authors give to inanimate objects. But, then again, what I do with the available common sense, expanse of knowledge, language, and perception is up to me. Just a thought to nibble on.
Well, the time for the name of this blog to reign true was now, and if that wasn't random enough just wait. Let's continue the rambling, shall we?

A Strange New World
Ever have that feeling..."I think I might just start a blog today."? Well, that was me, about an hour ago, and here I am, a few keystrokes later, blogging. I have to admit, it is awfully strange. No idea what I am going to write about, or how often, and honestly right now I have no plan as to where this post is heading. But, inspiration has many faces, and if by chance one day, I have a life changing epiphany about something that needs to be written and posted, I will now have this.
So, blogging....what is it exactly that I do with this? At the moment I have no extreme emotions to spill in Times New Roman font. I have no burning desire to review something. No extraordinary stories to share with you (if there is anyone there...haha). Overall, I am not that interesting....today. Although, you (and I) never know...perhaps tomorrow I will write about something that someone was destined to read. Something that pulls at the heartstrings, or tickles the funny bone, maybe by this time tomorrow you will be at the edge of the seat you're on, scanning these simple words with thirst. Who knows...
The future is unknown, as for the present, I welcome you to my blog, and am looking forward to how it grows.
